Working with Children Check strengthened

New South Wales' new Working With Children Check will be stronger and more efficient for employers and workers when it takes effect on June 15 2013.

Its operation will be streamlined from four agencies to one, the NSW Children's Guardian, reporting to the Minister for Family and Community Services, Pru Goward.

The secure online system will provide either a bar or a clearance, without the option for employers to employ some high risk people, and will allow for continuous rather than one-off monitoring of NSW criminal and disciplinary records.

The change was announced today by Minister Goward and the Minister for Citizenship and Communities, Victor Dominello.
