Schools Spectacular 2016's new home, QUDOS Bank Arena, Sydney Olympic Park has expanded the stage of what is regarded as Australia's most popular variety show.

Representatives from a record 426 schools from across the state were listed to be part of the largest event in the 33-year history of the popular extravaganza that this year will be staged on Friday and Saturday, 25 and 26 November.

More schools will be added as auditions continue.

The huge Schools Spectacular stage will be flooded with a 2700-strong choir, 2300 dancers, an 80-piece symphony orchestra, a word-class stage band and scores of outstanding solo performers (known as Featured Artists).

Schools Spectacular Creative Director Sonja Sjolander said she has never experienced like this year's auditions.

"We had more applicants than ever and the quality was outstanding," Ms Sjolander said.

"I am totally in awe of the talent I've seen from across the state and can't wait to see it all come together at the QUDOS Bank Arena in November."
