Privacy Awareness Week 2014

Staying safe online, particularly in a relation to personal information, is the focus of Privacy Awareness Week 2014, which is being held on 4-10 May.

The Information and Privacy Commission says the increasing popularity of smartphones and mobile apps means it is important for people to know how to keep their personal information private.

The theme of Privacy Awareness Week is "Mobilise your privacy, stay safe online" and the commission is urging people to consider questions such as:

  • What are my responsibilities when using mobile apps?
  • Have I checked my privacy settings lately?
  • What are my rights under NSW privacy law?
  • Who can help me with this process?
