New app encourages healthy lifestyle

In the lead-up to National Walk Safely to School Day, the NSW Government has launched an app to encourage students to be more physically active.

The app – designed for Apple and Android phones – allows children and adults to monitor the distance they walk to and from school, time spent walking and average walking speed.

NSW Minister for Education Adrian Piccoli said: "Walk Safely to School Day is now in its fourteenth year of encouraging children to lead a healthier, more active lifestyle by simply including a walk at the beginning and end of each day".

Walk Safely to School Day is on Friday 24 May.
