Environmental grants for 80 schools

Eighty primary and secondary schools building food gardens and establishing innovative environmental programs are to receive Environmental Trust Grants totalling $220,000.

Announcing the grants, Environment Minister Robyn Parker said 60 schools will share $150,000 under the Eco Schools Program, and 20 grants totalling $70,000 will be awarded for Food Gardens in Schools projects.

Ms Parker said the students will transfer their learning to peers, families and communities, creating a community benefit well beyond the schools themselves.
