Danish royals and Premier congratulate top readers

NSW Premier Barry O'Farrell has presented top performing students who took part in the Premier's Reading Challenge with medals and certificates of achievement.

Mr O'Farrell was joined at the presentation at Five Dock Public School by His Royal Highness Crown Prince Frederik of Denmark and Crown Princess Mary.

This year, 246, 602 students successfully completed the challenge, collectively reading 6,807,848 books.

A feature of the event in 2013 was the introduction of the Premier's Reading Challenge App, developed by the DEC with Microsoft. The app allowed parents and teachers to access booklists and track a student's reading progress.
