Comment sought on online safety for children

The Australian Government is seeking comment on proposals to improve online safety for children.

It has issued a discussion paper with suggestions about establishing a Children's E-safety Commissioner, an enforceable complaints system to enable the swift removal of harmful material from large social media sites, and a new, simplified cyberbullying offence.

The paper is available on the Department of Communications website and submissions are due by 7 March 2013.
