Teachers’ union lying

4 April 2013

Minister for Education Adrian Piccoli has criticised the Teachers' Union for lying to the NSW public.

"The full-page ad taken out in today's Sydney Morning Herald by the Teachers' Union is misleading and deceptive," Mr Piccoli said.

"In the next four years the NSW Government will invest at least $53.5 billion in education.

"In comparison, in the last four years of Labor $46 billion was spent.

"We have employed more than 500 extra teachers since we were elected. The Union's claim that 1,000 public school jobs are being cut is a bare-faced lie.

"It is one thing for the Union to lie to its members but lying to the public through an ad in the newspaper is a bridge too far.

"The Union should apologise."
