Agreement on Gonski
23 April 2013
The New South Wales Government has reached an historic agreement with the Commonwealth on school funding reform.
Together our commitment will provide the single largest ever injection of funding to this state's schools.
$5 billion in additional funding will be provided to government and non-government schools.
Funding will go to schools based on the demonstrated needs of their students.
Student need will be consistently assessed by the state and Commonwealth using transparent data on student need in government and non-government schools.
Resources will be targeted to students who experience educational disadvantage, with loadings for low socio-economic status, Aboriginality, language background other than English, disability, remoteness and school size.
In this way students will receive the right support to ensure that they are given the chance to achieve their full potential.
