Director, Information Management (Job reference number: 00002NWO)

The Director, Information Management will lead the Information Management Unit to manage the Department's strategic information and implement business intelligence tools to improve the effectiveness, efficiency and accountability of early childhood, education and training in NSW.

The Director will provide high level support to the General Manager, Strategic Information and Reporting in developing strategic policy and advice relating to information management and business intelligence.

Selection Criteria

· Substantial management experience at a senior executive level gained in a complex operating environment in the public, private or not-for-profit sectors.

· Appropriate tertiary qualifications in relevant discipline.

· High level technical knowledge and successful experience developing and implementing data management and reporting systems to an ISO accredited standard.

· Demonstrated high level skills in strategic analysis, statistics, business intelligence or other relevant key area.

· Proven experience and achievement in high-level policy formulation, and in depth understanding of Government policy, direction, objectives and service delivery functions, particularly in relation to educational delivery and performance either in early childhood, schooling, training or higher education.

· Strong record of achievement in high-level management, including people and financial management skills to ensure effective utilisation of resources, for leading staff to achieve objectives, managing conflicting priorities and complex issues.

· High level communication, liaison and interpersonal skills, including the skills in written communication required to prepare executive and ministerial level submissions, reports and briefing papers, and for consulting with senior management in the department and other government agencies.

· Capacity to lead staff in implementing the Department's Aboriginal education and training policies and to ensure quality outcomes for Aboriginal people.

The remuneration for this role is at a Public Service senior executive Band 1 level and is located in metropolitan Sydney. An attractive remuneration package within the range of $209,801 to $238,300 per annum and employment up to 23 February 2017 will be negotiated.

The Director, Strategic Analysis will lead the Strategic Analysis Unit and manage strategic information and data analysis to improve the effectiveness, efficiency and accountability of education and training in NSW, from early childhood education and care to the tertiary sector.

The Director will provide high-level support to the General Manager, Strategic Information and Reporting in developing strategic policy and advice relating to educational delivery and performance.

Selection Criteria

· Appropriate tertiary qualifications.

· High-level knowledge and understanding of key policy issues at the state and national level as they affect education and training provision.

· Outstanding strategic analysis and advisory skills, and extensive experience in policy analysis and provision of high-level advice to government.

· Extensive experience and demonstrated success in the development of strategic frameworks and policies in a complex organisation.

· Capacity to provide strategic leadership and management to ensure effective use of resources and to lead staff in achieving objectives to manage conflicting priorities, timeframes and complex issues.

· Exceptional oral and written communication and interpersonal skills for regularly consulting with senior management within the department, other government agencies, state and territory jurisdictions and the Commonwealth, and key state and national education stakeholders.

· Capacity to lead staff in implementing the department's Aboriginal education and training policies and to ensure quality outcomes for Aboriginal people.

The remuneration for this role is at a Public Service senior executive Band 1 level and is located in metropolitan Sydney. An attractive remuneration package within the range of $195,601 to $209,800 per annum and employment up to 23 February 2017 will be negotiated.
