School upgrade projects

All children, no matter which school they attend, deserve a great education in a well-equipped environment with up-to-date facilities. A major investment of funding is currently being used to upgrade or rebuild existing schools.

Below is an overview of current and planned school upgrade projects. Please click on each title link for further information, as well as the project updates, community consultation and frequently asked questions relating to each school.

Alexandria Park Community School

Planning for a major upgrade of Alexandria Park Community School has now commenced. This much-needed upgrade will greatly assist in meeting the demand for student placements within the flourishing Alexandria community. The planned redevelopment will deliver a multi-storey school to cater for up to 2,200 primary and secondary students on the Park Road campus of the Alexandria Park Community School.

Cleveland Street Intensive English High School

Cleveland Street Intensive English High School will be relocated into new and refurbished accommodation on the Department of Education's Mitchell Road site at Alexandria.  The learning environment will boast the latest learning technology and reflect future focussed learning principles to enhance the study of the intensive English language curriculum. 

Homebush West Public School

We are in the process of redeveloping Homebush West Public School to accommodate the expanding student population in the area. The redevelopment will include a new teaching space block, 26 new classrooms, new canteen and increased open play space. 

Killara Public School

The department is planning a new building at Killara Public School that will include 8 new classrooms and shared learning areas. Information booths have been held. Feedback from parents and the community has been received and is being considered as part of the design process. 

Manly Vale Public School

Plans are underway for the redevelopment of Manly Vale Public School to accommodate the area's growing student population. The project will see the construction of 40 new classrooms, a new hall, library, canteen and outdoor learning area.

Rainbow Street Public School

The proposed upgrade to Rainbow Street Public School will provide 35 new classrooms, 5 refurbished classrooms (in the original school building), a new library and special purpose rooms, refurbished staff amenities (in the original school building), new toilets and a bigger school hall.

Randwick Public School needs to accommodate the large increase in population projected for the Randwick area. The proposed design will provide 10 new classrooms within a new block, special purpose rooms and increased play space. The ground floor play space will include landscaped areas for recreation and outdoor learning, 2 new multi-purpose sport courts and new handball play spaces.
