September 2016 project update

Since the August update, and following the endorsement of the Educational Principles by the Project Reference Group (PRG), the project team have now begun the Concept Design.

The Concept Design will reference the agreed Educational Principles and take into account feedback from the investigations undertaken to date, information booth feedback and wider consultation. The Concept Design
process will aim to further understand the physical learning, social and living environments for the new school.

The following events have recently taken place:

  • Attendance at Hurlstone Agricultural High School Country Fair and review of feedback received

  • Incorporation of final report from discovery workshops held in July with Hurlstone Agricultural High School staff, students and important stakeholders including Professor Jim Pratley

  • Talks with Western Sydney University have continued regarding shared sporting and farm facilities

  • Ongoing site reference visits by the project team including visits to James Ruse Agricultural High School as well as researching international best practice.

Next steps and key events

  • Concept Design continues and we'll explore the school and boarding facility requirements in greater depth

  • More consultation workshops with staff and key stakeholders to further inform the design process.

Site planning is currently underway.Image: Aerial view illustration of the site's potential layout.
